Artificial Intelligence in Action: Scenario-Based Solutions for Humanitarian Response Applied to GBViE Programming & Beyond

For this year’s Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW), UNICEF is organizing a session about Artificial Intelligence focusing on Scenario-Based Solutions for Humanitarian Response Applied to GBViE Programming.

The session is happening on 27 March 2024, 2pm CET, in Geneva, Switzerland (or virtually via Zoom).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming humanitarian work, but how can we ensure its ethical and survivor-centered use in Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) and related sectors?

This 75-minute interactive session will explore real-world AI applications, ethical dilemmas, and risks through scenario-based discussions and collaborative problem-solving. Featuring a panel of experts, facilitators will examine how AI can enhance humanitarian response while maintaining accountability, trust, and protection for survivors. This session will expand on insights from the published paper on AI applications in GBV programming, which can be found here.

  • Gain insights into AI’s potential and risks in GBViE and its applicability in other sectors like MHPSS, Child Protection, and Social Work
  • Engage in hands-on group discussions analyzing AI-driven case studies
  • Co-create ethical, survivor-centered AI solutions for humanitarian settings
  • Walk away with practical tools and actionable steps for responsible AI integration
