MERL Tech and Data Innovators had the pleasure of hosting the Tech Enabled MERL strand at SAMEA’s 2022 conference. This included eleven pre-conference virtual workshops on September 19 and 20.

  • Social Network Analysis Jerusha Govender (Data Innovators), Jill Anne Brown and Simran Parwani (Data Visualisation Society) run you through how social network analysis methods work and how you can apply them in your M&E work.
  • Data Integration: Step-by-step Teboho Letuka, Jerusha Govender and Amanada Ncube (Data Innovators) offer an overview of how data integration works at government levels.
  • Using WhatsApp and Chatbots for MERL Pippa Yeats (Turn.io) explains how chatbots work and how they can be used for MERL purposes.
  • Open Data Kit (ODK) for beginners Ronald Waiswa, Blessing Muvuti, Victor Kiwujja, Kate Mwaura (Polaris Technical Services) give an overview of this data collection tool for M&E practitioners.
  • M&E and the Digital Principles Framework Mark Mulobi (Digital Impact Alliance – DIAL) introduces you to a framework for evaluating technology programs.
  • Open Source MERL Tech is a community of practice and in this workshop Stephanie Coker, Bonnie Wolfe, Ronald Munjoma, Mutsa Chinyamakobvu and Shriya Singh (MERL Center – a collaboration between MERL Tech and GitHub) share the projects they’ve been working on and let you know how you can get involved.
