Responsible Data Stewardship
This report sets out the findings of research undertaken by the Open Data Institute (ODI) between June 2022 and March 2023, supported by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. ODI set out to document and explore data concepts, with a particular focus on ‘responsible data’, and to use the findings to develop a normative interpretation of responsible data stewardship that we could use in our work. The research consisted of a literature review and expert interviews, involving 18 organisations from across the public, private and third sectors, in Africa, Europe, North and South America.
