Event description

In an era characterized by unprecedented challenges such as climate change, inequality, and security threats, the call for transformational change is louder than ever. This 2-hour webinar experience explores the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing evaluation practice and enhancing the capacity of practitioners to contribute effectively to transformational change. Webinar presenters and participants will dive into AI’s potential to support evaluation practitioners, participants, and consumers of evaluation, including policy makers, in leveraging the disruptive technology of artificial intelligence in the evaluation field’s efforts to contribute to transformational change.

Specifically, the webinar will convene a diverse range of young and emerging evaluators with mid-career evaluators to discuss how they are using and supporting the integration of AI in strengthening individual evaluation capacity and organization evaluation functions. The webinar will be a mixture of discussions, demos, case studies, and discussions with participants on the perils and promises of AI’s role in supporting evaluation’s ambition with transformation change. With so much hype around AI, now more than ever there is a need to support evaluators as they develop the critical literacy to balance ambition and realism with what this disruptive technology can and cannot do for the field of transformational evaluation.

Participants will learn about the fundamentals of generative AI technology, emergent fairness, accountability, transparency, and equitable (FATE) frameworks for the responsible use and integration of AI in their evaluation practice, and discover basic to advanced use cases for this technology to support transformative change through through historical and potential applications of this technology in evaluation and using evidence for transformative policy making. Case studies will be presented along with some introduction to specific tools and procedures for integrating AI into evaluation practice.
